Every year we pray and seek the Lord for the National Day of Prayer theme that will guide our year and unite the tens of thousands of prayer gatherings we host from coast to coast. This year on May 7, 2026, we will unite and pray as our new 2026 theme calls us to, “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations.” Last year our theme was inspired by a prayer that the apostle Paul prayed over the believers in Rome.
In 2026, our theme is inspired by a passionate prayer of Thanksgiving, prayed by King David in 1 Chronicles 16 after bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. This chapter records Israel celebrating the return of the Ark after being separated for 70 years earlier. While God was always watching over Israel and just a prayer away from them and King David, the Ark of the Covenant represented the presence of God having been constructed at the command of God and carried by the Levites with Moses as they wandered and waited to enter the Promised Land and eventually stolen from the tabernacle in Shiloh at their defeat in the battle in Ebenezer. I’ll pause here in its history for now. Thankfully, we have an entire year to unpack 365 days or more of all the prayers and prompts we can glean from this theme. - President Kathy Branzell

My journey took me beyond health and into the realm of ultimate potential. Many of us have lived multiple lives within our one life, which is normal and healthy when we are on a spiritual and personal development journey because as we evolve so too does our external reality.
Though my career began as a medical doctor, my medical training was exactly what I needed to realize that I was different, and that we humans are much more complex, whole-sitic systems. When I awakened to the knowing that we, as humans, are much more than mind and body, and that we are multi-dimensional energetic beings with supernatural abilities here to co-create the most epic human experience, I departed from western medicine.
My medical degree from NYU University laid a foundation to understand humans and science so that I could be a credible bridge between the 3D and the 5D (and beyond). Thus my work is very mystical and practical.
After over a decade of personal development and spiritual awakening, I use my experiences from this life and past, as well as my activated spiritual gifts to support others on their journey of transformation through intuitive coaching, healing, energy work, light language, meditations, rituals and more, coupled with practical action steps and life design to co-create tangible, life-enhancing results.

Elizabeth "Liz" Frederick, Nonprofit leader and youth justice reform advocate, Elizabeth (Liz) Frederick, became the Executive Director of Avenues for Justice (AFJ) in the summer of 2024, after 18 years of service to the historic organization. Starting her journey with AFJ in 2006 as a graduate student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Liz was initially curious about the gap between theory and lived experience. What began as a 30-minute meeting with Co-Founder Angel Rodriguez, quickly turned into a two-hour mission-defining moment, revealing not only a career path, but a purpose.
Nearly two decades later, Liz now leads the very movement that first inspired her.
Liz’s rise through AFJ, from operations staffer to Chief Operating Officer to unanimously appointed Executive Director in 2024, is not just a story of institutional knowledge or professional growth. It is a story of vision, of leadership shaped by experience, and of a woman who chose to define success in her own terms.
With unwavering commitment to advancing justice reform, especially within New York City, Liz has been a driving force and advocate for community-driven alternatives to incarceration. With a full grasp of the weight and responsibility of being a Black woman leading a justice-focused nonprofit, her leadership is rooted in clarity, empathy, and conviction. From Operations to Executive Leadership, Liz has touched nearly every part of the organization. From building operational infrastructure, to securing major grants and doubling the organization’s financial capacity, Liz has helped scale AFJ’s presence across all five boroughs of New York City while keeping its identity deeply local. Helping shape policy conversations, mentoring staff, or building cross-sector coalitions, Liz brings authenticity, courage, and a deep belief in the power of community to drive meaningful change.
Beyond her work at AFJ, Liz is a respected voice in the broader nonprofit and philanthropic landscape, recently joining the Board of IMPACT 100 NYC, a women-led collective supporting nonprofits through transformational grantmaking. She is also a Nation Swell Council Member – a community for leading senior thought leaders, change makers, and social impact amplifiers committed to scaling change through cross-sector collaboration, inspiration, and connection. In addition to being acknowledged as a 2024-2025Robin Hood Foundation New ED/CEO Peer Leadership Group, Liz is also an alumna of Columbia Business School’s Social Enterprise Program for Nonprofit Professionals, and a Cause Effective Fellow for advancing Leaders of Color in Fundraising. In Spring 2025, Liz was selected for the Greater NY Partnership—a two-year leadership initiative —where she is part of the class of 2027.
A frequent guest on justice reform and nonprofit leadership podcasts like You’re In Black Women’s Business, Unshackled Leadership: A Lantern for Black Women, Pursuing Justice, Breaking the Bias and more, Liz Frederick has been a powerful voice for young people navigating the justice system and a relentless advocate for policy and change that shifts the narrative from incarceration to empowerment.
For Liz, justice work is personal, it’s generational, and is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the chance not only to live, but to thrive.

The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman

God is sovereign and nothing comes as a surprise to Him. Whether we face fluctuating economics, threats from abroad, unrest at home, or other troubling circumstances, our Heavenly Father is not caught unaware. Through prayer, we are able to tap into His wisdom, strength, protection, and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of men.
As we Pray for America whose pledge of allegiance recounts that we are “one nation under God,” and whose currency states that it is “in God we trust,” we want Americans to encounter the God who rules over their country. “He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals His thoughts to man, He who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth—the LORD God Almighty is His name.”
—Amos 4:13 NIV
He is the One who gave us this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” As we humbly and diligently seek Him, we’ll be changed, and we’ll see transformation in America through prayer!

BY PRAYING INTO SEVEN CENTERS OF INFLUENCE IN OUR NATION
Pray for our leaders, as well as the judges in our courts. Ask God to grant them wisdom to act with integrity. Our executive, legislative, and judicial branches, when functioning as they were designed, champion our liberties and prevent our government from becoming tyrannical and oppressive.
As the heroic men and women in our armed services secure our liberty both at home and abroad, pray the Lord’s protection will go before them. In addition, lift up the chaplains stationed around the world, along with the Christian servicemen who unofficially fulfill a role of spiritual leadership. Ask that these believers would faithfully represent Christ among their comrades-in-arms.
We encourage you to make our nation’s journalists a subject of prayer. Ask the Lord to provide the television, radio and print mediums with staff members and executives who are committed to accuracy and integrity.
Today’s business leaders hold a great deal of sway in our society. America has long celebrated the entrepreneurial spirit of men and women who have launched innovative and successful companies. We're praying for honest and generous CEOs who reward loyal employees, customers and clients.
A safe atmosphere conductive to learning
The Church, ultimately, refers to the body of Christian believers around the world. As those who guide and disciple the Church, today’s pastors and other Christian leaders face a vast and unprecedented array of pressures. While God has blessed His people with many godly ministers, these shepherds need our prayer support. As they strive to remain obedient to Christ, ask the Lord to provide them with strength and avenues of accountability so that they may maintain steadfastness in their vital callings.
No institution in the culture is facing more intense persecution than the family. Not only are the incidences of divorce, but infidelity and abuse are on the rise.
It’s crucial that we pray for this vital and foundational unit of society. God’s Word makes it clear that families play a central role in disseminating the tenets of our faith to the next generation. Loving homes model virtues such as sacrifice, patience and unconditional love to a watching world, and committed marriages exemplify Christ’s devotion to His Church. Indeed, the family holds a special place in God’s heart.
